Country: New Zealand
Region: Marlborough
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
Vintage: 2012
Body: med- light
Alcohol: 13%
We dropped the new vintage.
This Sauvignon Blanc is named after one of New Zealand’s worst wild fires that destroyed more than 15,000 acres.  Disaster was avoided by the brave residents of what is now known as Fire Road, who battled the blaze with buckets, hand-held hoses, and a fortunate wind shift.
The Fire Road vineyards thrive in the same hot, dry climate that was the catalyst for the mighty blaze.  Identifiably New Zealand on the nose with notes of fresh grass and gooseberries.  On the palate we get citrus with nice weight, a dash of minerality and good acidity to finish.
try it with: Goat cheese pizza with grilled peppers and pesto, roasted zucchini and squash over saffron couscous, roasted pork loin.
