Bobal is native to Spain and is the third most planted grape behind Tempranillo and Airen. Vera de Estenas operates out of the oldest bodega in Utiel, hand-harvesting their wines and using traditional methods.

Luberri Orlegi • Rioja

Country: Spain
Region: Rioja
Varietal: Tempranillo
Vintage: 2013
Body: full
Alcohol: 13.5
Florentino Martinez Monje --owner and winemaker for Luberri -- has a non-interventionist approach to his vineyards. He prefers the fruit to grow naturally in accordance with the microclimate in Elciego, a town within Rioja Alevesa. He keeps yields low, utilizes whole-cluster fermentation for some of the grapes, uses indigenous yeasts, and ensures that the fruit is concentrated and healthy. Orlegi is a return to the traditional light, fruit-forward wines of Rioja Alavesa.
We get nice notes of leather and tar on the nose with fresh red and dark berry. On the palate the fruit pops with spice and light acidity to balance and nice weight and light tannins. This is a classic, old-world Tempranillo from Rioja for everyday drinking.

Region: Rioja Crianza DOC
Varietal: Tempranillo
Vintage: 2009
Body: full
Alcohol: 13%

This 100% Tempranillo is classified as a Crianza.  The word Crianza comes from the Spanish word for “nursing” or “bringing up.”  In Rioja, wines labeled Crianza are required to have been “brought up” by spending at least 12 months in oak and 12 more months in the bottle.
This wine has fulfilled its youthful requirements and is now ready for your drinking pleasure.  The oak has had time to integrate with the red fruit, black pepper notes, a touch of leather, and soft tannins.

Country: Spain
Region: Rioja DOC
Varietal: Graciano
Vintage: 2011
Body: Full
Alcohol: 14.5%

Graciano is a minor blending grape used to add color, weight and complexity to Rioja, which is usually dominated by the Tempranillo grape.   This rare varietal wine shows what Graciano can be….big, bold and rich.
We get dark jammy fruit on the nose with big spice and minerality.  With a bit of air the fruit becomes black cherry and plum, current and huckleberries mingling with licorice and tree sap, chalky tannins and a nice pop of acidity to balance it all.

This wine shows what Graciano can be.
