Cava is a Spanish sparkling wine that has been made in the Penedés region since the 1890’s and was established as its own denominacion in 1986. The Segura Viudas Brut Reserva is an incredible bargain made from the traditional Penedés grapes—Macebo (AKA Viura in the Rioja region), Parellada, and Xarel-lo.
This dry Cava delivers aromas and flavors of apples and a touch of herbs plus tight bubbles and good acidity—all for $10!
Sparkling, bubbly, fizzante, we love these wines. While Champagne only comes from Champagne, France (and it deserves its own name, it is a unique and special wine in this category) there are plenty of excellent champagne style wines at all price points. We look forward to sharing them with you.
